Barricade Request

Rules & Regulations

  • APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY. The applicant must reside within the proposed limits of the event.
  • SITE ELIGIBILITY. The street closure may only occur on a local residential street. No major (arterial or collector) street shall be affected.
  • DURATION. The street closure may occur up to a maximum of 6 hours and may only take place between dawn and dusk.
  • STREET CLOSURE. The applicant shall be responsible for obtaining MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) compliant barricades. The applicant must ensure proper placement of the barricades, prohibiting vehicular traffic within the event area during the entirety of the street closure. Upon request, the city may provide barricades to close the street. In order to receive this barricade delivery service, this application must be submitted at least seven days prior to the event. City barricades may not be available if scheduled during a holiday or special event (ie. Communityfest, Fox Cities Marathon).
  • NOTIFICATION. All household adjacent to the event area must be notified of the street closure date, start time, and end time by the applicant.
  • ALCOHOL. Alcohol may not be served or consumed within the public right-of-way (street, sidewalk, and terrace area).
  • PORTABLE RESTROOMS. Porta-potties may not be placed within the public right-of-way (street, sidewalk, and terrace area).
  • NOISE. The noise ordinance must be strictly followed. Municipal Code 11.146(6) prohibits amplified sound between 10 PM and 7 AM on weekdays and 11 PM and 10 AM on weekends.
  • REVOCATION. Failure to comply with these rules and regulations may result in immediate revocation of the permit, issuance of a citation, and/or suspension from obtaining future permits.
